Happy New Year 2015!

Happy New Year Everyone! I hope that you’ve all had a restful and happy holiday season and are ready for an even better 2015. This is going to be a fun sports day with important games in the NFL and the IIHF World Hockey Junior Championships being played today. As a longtime Dallas Cowboys fan, I’m looking forward to this afternoon’s game between the Cowboys and the Detroit Lions. Hopefully they’ll be able to get a win and move onto Lambeau Field to play the Packers next weekend. As for the Junior Championship, Canada takes on Slovakia in their quest for a gold medal. The tournament has been great so far and I’ve been impressed with the speed and skill displayed by the young men competing proudly for their respective counties. However, before I can sit back and enjoy those sporting events, I’ve got to get some work completed, including this blog entry.

During the Holidays I’ve been working on the marketing side of being an independent author and indie publisher. I’ve joined Wattpad and recently became a member of The Independent Author Network. I’m really happy to be a part of those communities and look forward to interacting with my fans and the other authors in those networks. Needless to say, there’s a lot to learn about being an indie author. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, writing your novel or short story is almost the easiest part. Getting your name and your project into the marketplace without the massive PR engines employed by the major publishers is a difficult task. By surfing the net I’ve come across some interesting blogs posts by Nick Stephenson (www.noorosha.com/10k-readers) and this one at Publishers Weekly (http://goo.gl/cSj7dz) on how to improve your readership and market your books. They are recommended reads for anyone thinking of getting into the self-publishing game. I’ve also connected with a few authors via Twitter and hope to meet even more talented writers around the world.

That’s it for now. I’m off to look at services for mailing lists and moving Chronokari Alpha: Time is Relative to other distributors like Smashwords and Draft2Digital. Stay safe and Go Cowboys and Team Canada!
